FILM: HITCHCOCKIAN: THE MASTERS AND HIS DISCIPLES
@American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre

Like a perfect pairing of wine and cheese, but with results that fray nerves instead of soothing them, the American Cinematheque screens Alfred Hitchcock masterpieces along with remakes and rip-offs they inspired. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. For more info, visit www.americancinematheque.com

FILM: GHOSTBUSTERS
@The Nuart
The Nuart presents the popular 1984 cult classic Ghostbusters as part of its ongoing "Cine Insomnia" series. The film, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, tells the story of three unemployed parapsychology professors who team up to start their own venture. When they’re kicked out of a cushy New York-based university, they begin their own, unique business in an abandoned Fire Station.
Instead of simply studying the occult, they decide to offer their services for money. In exchange for a hefty fee, they’ll stroll the streets of New York City locating and trapping ghosts, spooks and other haunts. The Nuart is located at 11272 Santa Monica Blvd., in West Los Angeles, (310) 281-8223. For ticket information and more details about The Nuart’s "Cine Insomnia" series, visit www.landmarktheatres.com.

MUSIC: GUITAR CENTERS DRUM OFF
@ The Wiltern
Those who actually wait for those interminable drum solos wedged into rock anthems are bound to enjoy this year's drum-off, which features drum-friendly punk headliners Bad Religion and The Bronx in addition to a six-months-in-the-making drum-king crowning. There's also a showdown between No Doubt's Adrian Young and Blink-182's Travis Barker (pictured), considered among the most versatile drummers of modern rock. We're most excited for headliners Bad Religion: The forefathers of double-time punk find their credentials unusually intact after demonstrating an ability to follow an early hardcore career with sing-alongs like "Los Angeles is Burning" and the still-raunchy "21st Century Digital Boy." The Wiltern is located at 3790 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles 90010. For more info, visit www.thewiltern.com.

But the show isn't just about midlife crisis-curing new models and concepts. (Yeah, right.) There are also all sorts of accessories and incidentals including electronics, tires, insurance and more. Insurance—now that's exciting. The L.A. Convention Center is located at 1201 S. Figueroa St. Los Angeles 90037. For more info, visit www.lacclink.com

MUSIC: DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL
@ UC Riverside

Much as we all love to say we’re over Dashboard Confessional and say we never liked him to begin with and portray him as a genre stereotype, really, you love Chris Carraba deep down and you know it. The man can do no wrong and could make even the bro-est of dudes a little marshmallow-y inside. UC Riverside is located at 900 University Avenue, Riverside. For more info, visit www.dashboardconfessional.com

Wednesday, Jan. 18

EXHIBIT: ASHES AND SNOW
@Santa Monica Pier

It may sound like an unassuming haiku about Mt. Fuji, but "Ashes & Snow" is an artistic event in the Nomadic Museum, itself an undertaking of elephantine proportions. Colbert's jaw-dropper houses more than 100 large-scale photographs, each measuring approximately five by eight feet. The Santa Monica Pier is located at 200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica. For more info, visit www.ashesandsnow.com.
