VOTE FOR AS I LAY DYING

VOTE FOR AS I LAY DYING AT YAHOO MUSIC IN LAUNCH'S WHO'S NEXT

Strengthened by the road, creatively on fire, and with their lineup both solidified and contributing equally to the songwriting process, As I Lay Dying entered Big Fish Studios in Encinitas, California at the beginning of January. The quintet sequestered themselves until spring and emerged with their leanest, meanest, and most focused effort yet, Shadows Are Security.

With another massive tour schedule ahead of them to support Shadows And Security, including one of the headliner slots on the second stage of Ozzfest 2005, As I Lay Dying will have ample opportunities to bring the love, the pain and the noise to audiences worldwide.

To vote, go to http://music.yahoo.com/promotions/whosnext and for more info on As I Lay Dying, go to www.asilaydying.com

LIVE MUSIC SPOTLIGHT: 30 SECONDS TO MARS
Saturday, June 25 @ The Roxy

Despite what you think you know and what the critics and snobs may say, there is no place for 30 in whatever genre, scene or group you put them in. Even if you did check out their 2002 self-titled release and didnt like it because it was a little too weird or obscure for you, their new material warrants another listen.

Straightforward rock with more integrity than the vast majority of bands you see on MTV, 30 pull out all the stops when they perform to make sure their audience is wowed.

The Roxy is located at 9009 W. Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. For more info, go to www.30secondstomars.com or www.theroxyonsunset.com.

DRAW! DANCE! AND DIE! A WESTERN THRANCE
Fridays-Sundays in June @ Studio/Stage Theatre

Its not exactly dance, and its not exactly theater, but, hah ... Thrance, according to founder Jessica Schroeder, is "a creative hybrid of Theater and Dance."

You must understand the evolution/etymology of Thrance to understand "Draw! Dance! And Die!" "A tale of two sisters, a cousin, and a whole lot of guns," this Thrance is like Busby Berkeley directing a Quentin Tarantino film while channeling Sergio Leone. In the midst of a shootout, the characters will suddenly break out into tunes by Ray Charles, Elmer Bernstein, The Kinks, Lucinda Williams, Lyle Lovett and Aretha Franklin. Combining dance, theater, performance art and Andy Bakkum, "Die!" has something for everyone.

Show times: 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 7 p.m. Sundays. For more information,
visit www.thrance.com/current.html.

LOCAL MUSIC SPOTLIGHT: MANNTIS
June 27 @ The Troubadour

Maybe you've heard of Manntis. They were on this little show called Battle For Ozzfest earlier this year. They kind of rocked, if you remember correctly. The Riverside County five-piece have only been picking up steam (in addition to a record deal) since then, and are out to prove that life goes on after finishing third.

The best way you could describe Manntis would be straight metal with a lot of hardcore soul. But the energy on stage is what really attracts people's attention while watching the band live. It's the explosive sound of emotion, reality, relationships and straight forwardness.

Catch Manntis when they play a free show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on Monday, June 27, they won't be in such small venues for long. For more information, visit www.troubadour.com or www.manntis.com

Tuesday, June 28
